Ouch

“As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, it really is ironic. I have a gay son and an unwed pregnant daughter.”

Think before you speak Mom. I wouldn’t want your disappointment to get out.

I want this.

I want this.

What’s it like when someone you care about breaks up with you?

It’s like having someone rip your heart out every morning and stomp as hard as they can. Then they put it back in your chest and you have to walk around for the rest of the day and pretend you didn’t notice.

A Letter to Obama

It was hard for me not to rant and rave in this letter about homosexuality, abortion, and a whole string of things that agitate me to no end about our country, but the purpose of this letter should be clear. If you agree, feel free to use it as a template for your own email.

President Obama,

So many people close to me - friends, family, loved ones - are touched with incurable diseases. Stem cell research has been ignored and held up long enough by partisan politics and religious beliefs. Every day, people suffering from all kinds of diseases are denied reasonable efforts at a cure.

The United States of America - by virtue of it’s founders - used to believe in freedom of religion. It is a recognized fundamental human right. Then how can it be that another person’s beliefs should come to dictate the life of someone else, someone they may not even know, in such a profound and purposeful way?

The answer is damning: because we are a nation of liars, cheaters, and hypocrites.

We must make this right. Please push for stem cell research. We cannot continue to ignore the people who have been wronged, and who continue to suffer, because of our indifference and hypocrisy.

Sincerely,
Michael Ciarlo
